Clinicians across Colchester and Tendring are predicting GP services will be under significant pressure after Boxing Day as people return from their holiday and surgeries reopen after the Christmas break.
They’re reminding local people about the importance of stocking up on medication they’re likely to need before Christmas, adding those people who heed their advice are likely to have a more enjoyable break.
Dr Hasan Chowhan, a GP in Colchester and Chairman of the North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “The days between Boxing Day and New Year are usually incredibly busy for our NHS services, where surgeries will be dealing with urgent on the day medical problems. We’d ask everyone once again to make sure they choose the right method of care.”
