Under the Health & Social Care Act 2012 Healthwatch will be the new consumer champion for both health and social care.  It will exist in two distinct forms – local Healthwatch, at local level, and Healthwatch England, at national level.  Healthwatch members will have a seat on the local health Forum so that they are able to understand and represent local North East Essex issues to their main Healthwatch committee and the Health & Wellbeing Board.

Visit the Heathwatch Essex website.

Healthwatch Essex is a new independent voice for the people of Essex. Launched in April 2013, the organisation is here to gather and represent people’s views and experiences of NHS and social care services so that they can be designed and delivered better. This includes mental health and disability services, care for the elderly or frail, and also public health. We work directly with the public, and closely with local voluntary and community groups, to find out what matters to people about NHS and social care in Essex and to give a voice to those who are seldom heard.

We are here to represent the collective voice of the people of Essex and to influence decisions made about how NHS and social care services are provided that affect local communities. If you have an individual complaint, there are other services which can help you, including:

  1. NHS complaints
  2. Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS)
  3. Complaint advocacy (PohWer)
