We are responsible for commissioning most health services for the people of north east Essex, including hospital care, community health services, mental health services, learning disability services and urgent and emergency care, excluding primary care.
We are made up of the 40 GP practices across Colchester and Tendring and led by local GPs. Our staff work with local healthcare professionals, local authorities, voluntary organisations and others to make sure the local people we serve have access to high quality health services that meet their needs. We take our responsibility of listening to local people extremely seriously to provide services that best meet your needs. We also seek views from local people when making decisions about local health services.
Our local health services face demands growing at an unprecedented rate compared to levels of resource available and an ever-growing population needing care for more complex needs. This means we must make hard decisions about priorities as we look to do whatever it takes to keep meeting the continued health and care needs of our local population.
We have incident response plans in place that are fully compliant with the NHS Commissioning Board Emergency Preparedness Framework 2013. This is regularly reviewed and improvements are continuously made to our major incident plan.« Back
