#EssexNeighbours is about looking out for others. We all need help from time to time, and helping can make a big difference to someone's health and wellbeing.

Checking in with your family, friends, colleagues and neighbours is a simple way to brighten up their day. It's also a good opportunity to make sure everything is okay, and whether they need any help.

Here are some ways you can help someone you know:

  • If they're vulnerable, ask if they need anything from the shops or chemist. If there's a heatwave or icy weather, they might not be able to safely go outside.
  • If they are on their own a lot, give them a call every now and then, or pop in for a cup of tea.
  • Ask if they need any help with anything around the house or garden.
  • Text or call someone you haven't spoken to in a while and ask how they are doing.
